The New Sony PXW-Z200
Sony have just announced the launch of the PXW-Z200, this is the latest camcorder to be added to their range.
In brief, the new PXW-Z200 is arguably a replacement for the PXW-Z150, with a long list of improved features. The new sensor allows the PXW-Z200 to Super Sample from 5K up to 50P producing a very high quality 4K image and will go up to 4K/120P in a slightly cropped mode. It also now benefits from Optical Steadishot, as well as Phase Detection AF with AI assistance to predict human movement giving better focus tracking. The zoom range is now much wider at 24mm, negating the need in most cases for a wide converter and optically has a tele range of 480mm, this increases to 720mm with clear zoom in 4K and 960mm in HD. The camera has S & Q mode in UHD up to 5 x slow motion with Autofocus still operating. Auto-Framing is a new feature, where the camera takes a cut-out from the full image and tracks the movement of a subject to keep them in frame, helpful for single operators/presenters. The LCD panel has also been improved providing a higher resolution at nearly twice the resolution. You get all this for a list price of £3,164.
