Colin Clarke DoP - Ice Light Winner
When Facebook competition winner Colin Clarke received his brand new Ice Light, this is what he said:
"As a DoP working primarily in documentary, I often find myself in a situation where time is at a premium and I have to rely largely on available light. The addition of an 'Icelight" mounted horizontally on a stand or clamped onto something is great to give a bit of shape to lighting a presenter or contributor. It gives a lovely soft, wrap-around look. Also, it's useful to help foreground on night exteriors or "computer" glow on faces (yet to try it in a car, but am sure it would work well).
I have recently shot a science documentary for PBS where we had very brief access to the Large Hadron Collider and the NASA Hubble Control Centre and it came in amazingly useful in both locations."
